Disability Placards Now Available to Disabled License Plate Holders - There has been a change in Massachusetts law which allows a temporary disabled placard to be issued to a holder of active disability plates. To receive a placard an individual must submit a written request explaining a need for the placard. To apply, you must include your social security number, your current disability registration plate number, your image must be stored in the RMV's computer system, a statement of why you need a placard, and you must request the dates the placard will be needed. Placards may be obtained for two to 24 months. If you require a disability placard, submit your request with the above information to:

HP Parking SignMilford Handicapped Parking Fines Increase - Effective November 19, 2001, it started costing violators more for parking illegally in a handicapped parking spot in Milford. At the Town Meeting held during July 2001, the fine for a handicapped parking violation was increased from $50. to $125. Read the complete press release.

Mass. Metered Parking Space Exemption - G.L. c. 40, S 22A: Exempts vehicles legally displaying Massachusetts disabled veterans plates, or handicapped plates or placards issued by Massachusetts or any other state or any Canadian Province, from payment of parking meter fees or penalties in any Massachusetts city or town.

Parking Fee Waivers at Massachusetts State Park Facilities
Parking fees are waived for vehicles bearing the following types of license plates from any state:  HP plate, placard or disabled veterans’ license plate.  This waiver does not apply to camping fees and is subject to available parking.
