Would you know what to do? Babysitting Basics online course from the Red Cross gives you the skills to manage whatever may come up when you’re babysitting. The American Red Cross is offering this 4-hour babysitter course online for a low cost of $25.00. Please go to their website for more information and to register for the course. Kids under 13, please ask your parents permission before registering.

May Children’s Drop-In Storytime Programs

During the month of May the Milford Town Library Youth Services Department will be offering drop-in storytime programs for infants to grade 3. Mother Goose on the Loose for Infants – age 2 with an adult will be offered at 10 AM on the following Fridays; May 3, 10, and 17; Toddler Time for ages 2 – 3 with an adult will be held at 10 AM on the following dates: May 7, 13 and 22: Storytime for children ages 3 – 5 will be held at 10 AM on the following dates; May 14, 23 and 28 and Art With Heart for students in Grades K – 3 will be held at 4 PM on May 9, 15 and 29. All programs are drop-in and participants will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do our best to accommodate all who would like to participate in Storytime programs. Parents or caregivers must stop at the Children’s Information Desk to pick up a name tag for each child and adult participant.

The Milford Town Library now subscribes to LearningExpress, an online test preparation tool that gives you access to practice tests for GED, SAT, ASVAB, LSAT, GMAT, MCAT, tutorials for computer programs, and workplace skills.

With Learning Express, kids in Elementary School can get help buiding math and reading skills, middle schoolers can choose from math, reading, social studies, writing, and high school entrance exam skillbuilders.

High School students have even more at their fingertips with logic and reasoning,vocabulary, statistics, trigonometry, and science skills improvement as well as college prep aids like ACT, PSAT and SAT.

ESL students and recent immigrants can study citizenship and jobseekers can build real-world skills in public speaking, computers, and much more.
