Getting a Card

Milford Town Library Logo

Under Massachusetts Law, what any person borrows from our library is confidential, regardless of the person’s age.

Read our Borrowing Policy here.

Why do I need a library card?

If you want to borrow books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, electronic resources, or other items from our library, you need a library card. Materials will be loaned only to people with a valid library card. Your card should be presented each time you borrow an item. Library cards are non-transferable, which means that only you may use your card.

How do I get a library card?

If you are a new borrower, 14 years of age or older, you must present positive identification, showing your name and current address, such as a valid driver’s license (with new address label if changed). If you do not have a photo I.D., we require 2 other forms of identification showing your current address.

Children between the ages of 5 and 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be required to show the above identification and sign for the child.

What if I lose my library card or don't want to carry a physical card?

Lost cards may be replaced by a borrower in good standing at a charge of $1.00.

If you would like to create an electronic version of your CW MARS library card, search the CW MARS catalog, and track your checkouts and holds from your mobile device, download the CW MARS app from the App Store or Google Play store. The CW MARS app is accepted in place of your physical library card when checking out library materials.

Do you offer digital library cards?

Yes! CW MARS now offers eCards to patrons who do not already have a CW MARS library card. An eCard is a CW MARS library card that patrons can register for online to access electronic materials, such as ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and databases. Visit our Read, Listen & Watch page and our Databases page to see what you can access here at the Milford Town Library.

The eCard may be upgraded to a physical library card with full borrowing privileges by visiting the Circulation Desk.

Patrons are eligible to apply for a CW MARS eCard if:
